Children and Parents Podcasts
Do you remember your favourite radio show from when you were young? Nowadays, children are listening to podcasts! A podcast is an episodic audio series of a variety of topics that users can download to a personal media device for easy listening. We would like to share some websites which had some interesting podcasts:
FunKids (https://www.funkidslive.com/) is a platform with several interesting podcasts, including The Space Programme, a story about making one of the local kids the first child astronauts, and Marina Ventura: Kids Guide to Our Planet, from which your child can learn more about the planet Earth.
Gen-Z (https://gzmshows.com/) is another site where you can find great podcasts for your child. Topics range from game shows like The Big Fib, where children learn to distinguish facts, to podcasts like Remy’s Life…Interrupted, which is hosted by the child himself. These podcasts, along with others, are available on Gen-Z’s website, as well as from the free RadioPublic application, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store and App Store.
Eleanor Amplified is a comedic adventure series that the entire family can enjoy. Recommended for kids aged 8-12, the podcast can be downloaded from WHYY website (https://whyy.org/), Apple Podcasts, and Spotify.
For parents, we would recommend two parenting podcasts about teens and pre-teens: “Parenting Great Kids” by Paeditrican Dr Meg Meeker and “Mighty Parenting” by Sandy Fowler.
If you do have some time to listen to some of these, we would love to hear what you thought about them.
