Dr. Hennis Tse is a Registered Psychologist in Hong Kong and Canada (Ontario) with over 20 years of clinical practice experience working with children, adolescents, and families, including 10 years in Canada and more than a decade in Hong Kong. He is the Founder and Clinical Director of ChildPsy, where he leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting children’s learning, development, and emotional well-being.

Dr. Tse specializes in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges in children and adolescents. He is highly experienced in conducting comprehensive psychoeducational, intellectual, and gifted assessments and provides evidence-based recommendations to support diverse learning needs. His expertise and professionalism have led to frequent invitations to provide school-based consultation and professional training in Hong Kong, Canada, and China.

Educated in Hong Kong, the United States, and Canada, Dr. Tse brings a strong cross-cultural perspective to his clinical practice. Prior to founding ChildPsy, he worked as a school psychologist with two of the largest school boards in Canada—the York Region District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board—where he supported students with a wide range of special educational needs. His clinical work has included supporting children with giftedness, autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), selective mutism, oppositional behaviors, anxiety, depression, and developmental delays.

Dr. Tse’s clinical work is grounded in evidence-based practice and scientific research. His research on cross-cultural differences in children’s learning and socio-emotional development has been published in academic articles and leading professional journals. In addition to his clinical work, he has taught psychology and education courses at the university and college level for over a decade. He has served as a part-time lecturer at Western University (Canada), the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tung Wah College, Seneca College, and Yew Chung College. He currently serves as an Honorary Field Supervisor for the Department of Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, supporting the training and development of future psychologists.

Dr. Kong is a Clinical Psychologist who is dedicated to enhancing the emotional, social, behavioural and educational well-being of children and their families. Dr. Kong is experienced in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a range of emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties in clinical and research settings both in Hong Kong and in Australia.

Dr. Kong’s qualifications include Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of Hong Kong, Master of Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at University of NSW, Australia.  Dr. Kong values and maintains the importance of continuous professional development in order to enhance her skills and to receive information on the most updated and effective evidence-based interventions.  She collaborates with the University of Hong Kong and the University of Shenzhen, Department of Psychology to develop and evaluate coaching programs for young children with special needs and their parents living in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Preliminary results show that the program can effectively reduce parental stress, improve children’s social and behavioural development and allow parents to enjoy a more harmonious parent-child relationship (Kong and Au, 2018).

Dr. Kong is involved in raising public awareness on how to support children with special needs in their development in HK. She has provided lectures, interactive workshops and participates in panel discussions to give advice and empower SEN teachers with research-based strategies, such as at the Montessori Asia Conference, Yew Chung College of Childhood Education and at the HK ASD Conference.  She is also a long term partner with the Hope of the City foundation to provide ongoing parent coaching workshops to economically-challenged families at Shamshuipo on a pro-bono basis.

Dr. Kong is fully registered with the Hong Kong Psychological Society and the NSW Psychologists’ Registration Board. She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society, College of Clinical Psychologist. She is the only certified Incredible Years Basic Parent Group leader in Hong Kong. The Incredible Years program is a model program in the USA to promote children’s academic, social, emotional regulation and reduce inappropriate behaviours in typically-developing children.

Melody is a Clinical Psychologist and is an Associate Fellow of the Division of Clinical Psychology of the Hong Kong Psychological Society. She has over 10 years of clinical experience conducting assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and emotional problems, including autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, specific learning disabilities, developmental delay, anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, and developmental trauma. She has experience serving in a local non-governmental organization (NGO). Her time in NGO has allowed her to work closely with local preschools, primary schools, and secondary schools in providing both individual and group interventions for students, as well as training and consultations for teachers, school staff, and parents. She is a certified provider of the PEERS social skills intervention for adolescents as well as a certified facilitator of the Circle of Security Parenting program.

Growing up in Toronto, Canada, as well as Hong Kong, Melody is fluent in both English and Cantonese. She utilizes client-centered and play-based approaches in developing an accepting, empathetic, and genuine relationship with clients in therapy sessions. She employs evidence-based interventions, and is particularly experienced in providing cognitive-behavioral therapy to help children and adolescents cope with a range of emotional disorders, as well as behavioral interventions and parent training for children with developmental disabilities. By including family members in therapy, she hopes that parents can gain an understanding of the psychological needs of their child and feel empowered to take an active role in supporting their child’s development.

Dr Ko is a clinical psychologist with a doctoral degree from Australia. Her work focuses on helping children, adolescents, young adults and their families with their struggles in mental health.

Dr Ko has been working with special-needs children and their families for over 20 years, beginning in 2005. After completing her clinical training in 2016, she began she career as a clinical psychologist. She has then extended her clientele population to providing psychotherapy for students and young adults with mental health challenges as well as providing training to teaching professionals and parents. Her psychotherapy work focuses on the use of evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy. With more than ten years’ experience as a clinical psychologist, her clients include, and not limited to, those having challenges with depression, anxiety, OCD, adjustment disorder, school refusal, ODD, PTSD, grief and loss, self-harm behaviours and suicidal ideation.

She is passionate in spreading mindfulness to the community around her. She especially enjoys introducing mindfulness to children and adolescents as a way to pave a path for better attention, emotional regulation, and stress reduction.

Having spent the majority of her time overseas, as well as studied and worked in both private and public schools across Canada, Australia and Hong Kong, not only has she focused on attending to her clients’ developmental and mental health needs, but she has also developed a good degree of sensitivity toward various cultural needs.

Matt received his Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) from the University of Sydney, Australia.

Prior to moving to Hong Kong in 2015, Matt worked private practice serving mainstream local schools; running individual, small group and whole class sessions. Before joining ChildPsy, he worked at a known early education training centre (EETC) where he provided assessment and treatment in both English and Cantonese.

With over thirteen years of experience as a practicing clinician, Matt specializes in working with children with different diagnoses including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, speech and language disorders and motor speech disorders. He has also worked in supportive classroom environments (four-day-a-week preschool programmes).

Matt has continued with his professional development, undertaking further training in areas such as PROMPT Bridging, Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding and Hanen – More Than Words, to ensure that he is able to reach out to as many families as possible.

Grace is one of the few American-licensed, bilingual (English and Cantonese) Speech and Language Therapists in Hong Kong.  She earned her Masters degree at the University of Washington, a consistently top-ranked Speech-Language Pathology graduate program in the United States.

Grace has particular interests in early developmental assessment and intervention.  As a member of ChildPsy’s multi-disciplinary team, her mission is to uncover a child’s potential and challenges in various early stages of development and communication.  By sharing this analysis with parents and teachers, she believes they can more effectively support the child’s learning and development at home and at school.

Grace is experienced in working with children with social anxieties and features of selective mutism. She systematically adjusts the therapy environment so that they can find and practice their brave voices and eventually use those voices confidently in social settings.  Her portfolio also addresses “late talkers” who need support building their verbal language.

In therapy, she meets children at their level and strives to be flexible—in mind and in limbs!—so children are engaged and motivated to listen and express themselves, while having fun in the process.

She has collaborated with several institutions, such as NGOs, special schools, and rehabilitation centres, before joining ChildPsy.

In addition to her therapy work, Kristan has taught the Occupational Therapy Assistant course at the ERB institution for over seven years and received the Teaching Award from ERB in 2019. She currently provides individual and group training for children, focusing on enhancing their motor functions, attention, behavior, and emotional regulation.

Over the years, she has worked in various child rehabilitation environments, including SSSC, EETC, OPRS and private clinics. Yat Nam is a mother of two sons who graduated from the University of Hong Kong with distinction in the Master Degree of Social Work. She is now a Registered Social Worker, a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) of The Association of Play Therapy (APT) as well as a Certified Child-Centered Play Therapist of Centre for Play Therapy (CPT, UNT). As an enthusiast of humanistic psychology, she went overseas for further study in different psychotherapy approaches with many renowned teachers. She received Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) training from Professor Leslie Greenberg at York University in Toronto; Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) trainings from Dr. Dee Ray and Dr. Sue Bratton at the University of North Texasrespectively. She was also a fellow student of Dr. Janet Courtney learning FirstPlay® Therapy. In addition, she learnt OH Cards directly from the founder, Mr. Moritz Egetmeyer, who is a reputable psychotherapist. She has completed more than 120 hours of accredited courses at the OH-Cards Institute.

As a mother, social worker and play therapist, Yat Nam strives to promote unconditional love and acceptance. Over 14 years of professional experience in the social work field and 10 years of practical experience in play therapy, she has served in different educational institutions ranging from preschools to universities, public as well as private organizations in various roles such as counselling, teaching, conducting trainings for parent empowerment, teachers and mental health professionals.
