FAQs

The main goal of speech therapy is to support the development of a child’s overall communicative abilities, so that they achieve age-appropriate skills. For example, receptive and expressive language skills, articulation, social skills, phonological awareness skills, feeding issues and voice disorders.

Our therapists provide speech & language assessments and therapy that are customized to enhance the child’s communication and learning both at home and at school.

Occupational therapy supports and promotes the development and engagement of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families or caregivers, in everyday routines. These routines include play, rest and sleep, daily activities, education, and social participation.

Occupational therapy is concerned with a child’s ability to participate in daily activities. Occupational therapists help children with and without socio–emotional, physical, cognitive, communicative, and adaptive behavior challenges prepare for and perform important learning and developmental activities. Through sensory integration therapy, they help children improve their sensory processing of information to enable them to function better in daily activities.

Yes, he/she may! We value your child’s health just like you do, if your child shows symptoms of flu or cold, please contact our office staff as soon as possible for cancellation and kindly provide a valid doctor’s note stating the date of absence at the next class.

If you have any doubts regarding your child’s speech and language and development, we strongly advise you to talk to a professional before settling for Speech Therapy.  Here at ChildPsy, unless your child has been previously diagnosed with ST needs, we would always perform a 60-minute screening assessment, which includes a brief interview with the parent/s, an informal play-based speech and language assessment (if appropriate), a feedback session and a brief summary report for the parents.  Our speech therapists will provide professional recommendations based on the initial assessment.
