Dr. Ida Wong, Psy.D.
Clinical Psychologist/Psychotherapist (New Zealand)
Dr. Ida Wong was born in Hong Kong and raised in New Zealand. She is a multidisciplinary trained clinical psychologist, where she utilizes a client-centered approach in her therapy sessions. Dr. Ida is registered as a Clinical Psychologist in New Zealand (NZPB) and Hong Kong (HKADCP), where she has also completed practice based Play Therapy training accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University (UK).
Dr. Ida specializes in children and adolescents with social, emotional and behavioral challenges, including those with longstanding trauma and challenging attachment issues. She believes that working collaboratively with parent and strengthening parent-child relationships would help the child to develop resilience. Such empowerment would help children to grow up with a psychologically healthy mind and body.
Dr. Ida is culturally sensitive and experienced in group work, where she had been invited to share her experiences in an AGPA (American Group Psychotherapy Association) conference. Her experiences in group work has been recognized by Mother's Choice where she collaborated with them to establish summer programs for the adopted children which aims to deal with their emotional challenges relating to themselves, their birth and adopted parents and cultivating their self-worth and self-esteem.
